I’m not sure how we missed this post from SearchEngineLand.com back in December, but we’re bringing it to you now. As you may know, a huge factor in ranking well on Google Places is the quantity of citations, or business listings, you have in online directory sites.
There are literally thousands of directories to get a citation from, but some of them have more “link juice” than others. Google trusts some directories more than others.
Google often references citation sources in Google places listings and SearchEngineLand.com did a study of 15,000 citation sources and ranked the Top 50 in order of how many times they were referenced on Google Places listings. How nice of them!
So if you are working on ranking your Google Places page yourself, I recommend getting as many citations as you can from this list. If you do this, you’ll be off to a great start!
